Hi. Not bad, but as one who did a lot of research on the thing, even did a version of the same conversion for Eagle Editions some years back, a few details could use work.
The overall profile is a bit high, and there isn’t nearly the step from the cowl to fuselage. The over-the-blower bulge isn’t quite bulgy enough, and the lower engine bearer arm protudes into the little exhaust flap at the bottom of the cowl and into the wing root fillet. Further, the fuselage half of the streamlined wedge on the left side needs to protrude a bit more and does not taper back to the fuselage contour at the bottom, then the wing fillet overlaps that. The lower cowl needs to be wider where it flattens in front of the oil cooler intake. I’ve got some good drawings to go with all this if you are interested.
Hello,
I’ve had extensive research too, before making the patterns, so I interested to discuss our research work. It’s hard to understand for sure your notes, given by verbal description, so I would appreciate for good graphic explanation and want to give my vision of Erla cowling shapes.
I have a good number of Erla G-10 photos, including a few of the areas that Steve refers to. Would you like me to send them? I would be more than happy to – never can have too much material! Of course, you may already have the images, but maybe not.
